Mount Men’s Soccer Falls to Saint Peter’s, 3-1, Postponing Playoff Hopes

EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 30, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's men's soccer will have to wait for their next opportunity to clinch a playoff berth after falling to the Saint Peter's Peacocks 3-1 Wednesday at Waldron Family Stadium.

Sophomore Anthony Fanelli scored his first collegiate goal for the Mountaineers, receiving a cross from Luc Holden in the 77th minute and heading it home. Holden supplied his third assist of the campaign, which ties Dominik Topolsky for the team lead.

However, the strike came after the visiting Peacocks opened a 3-0 lead. They were up 1-0 at the break after Tim Strele scored in the 36th minute. Even more momentum was gained early in the second half on a goal from Connall McErlain. Strele earned the brace on an unassisted ball dribbled past Mount goalkeeper Julian Marcos.

The result closes the team's home slate, finishing 2-3-3 at Waldron Family Stadium this season.

Taking to the road, the Mount faces Siena Saturday. Match time is 3 p.m. from Loudonville.
