The victory was one of two on the day, as the squad also defeated Saint Anselm during the first day of Destination Orlando.
Looking to pick up that second victory, the Mountaineers mustered games of 275 and 253 to build a 100-pin lead that withstood a final charge from the Dukes. In the Saint Anselm game, a 213 in the final 10 frames marked the exclamation point of the Quint Baker showdown.
Across the day, the team averaged 958.2 per match, facing off against four teams in the National Tenpin Coaches Association's (NTCA) Top 25 poll, including #1 Jacksonville State.
