NEW CASTLE, Del. (January 20, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's bowling picked up three victories Saturday – two against top 12 teams in the national poll – and maintained their pace at the Northeast Classic through qualifying. The Mount enters bracket play 14
th out of 34 teams.
Trishelle Leal Uribe had the highest score among the Mountaineers during Saturday's traditional play, registering a 1,011 or a 202.2 average.
Alyssa Alexander and
Leah Varela also competed in all five games, earning respective scores of 986 and 943. Every bowler who took to the lanes today for the team produced at least one game above 200.
Starting off strong, a trio of bowlers – led by a 221 from
Gianna McGahan – earned plus-200 games for a 985 score, enough to defeat #2 Vanderbilt by 79 pins. After two defeats, the Mount rebounded with a 976 to edge Sam Houston, paced by a 217 score from
Aliza Shirk. A decisive victory over Mount Aloysius capped off the winning day and brought the team to 5-5 for the weekend.
