Junee Lee Scores; Mount Men’s Soccer Falls to Saint Peter’s

EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 30, 2023) – Freshman Junee Lee registered a second half goal, but the Mount men's soccer team fell on the road to Saint Peter's by a 3-1 final Saturday.

Lee's tally marked a comeback attempt after the Mount fell behind 2-0. In the 83rd minute, he took a cross from Mackie Sacarellos and headed it past Peacocks goalkeeper Pedro Alves. The goal was Lee's second of the season. With the chance to level the score as time wound down, Gavin Watt registered a shot on goal, but Alves turned it aside.

Saint Peter's got a goal by Conlan Paventi in the 23rd minute to go up by half, with their second coming from Danny Welsby in the 68th minute. After the Mount's last chance was thwarted by SPU, they added a third score from Lex Vaughan in the final minutes.

Ethan Russell finished with five saves, including some key stops at the beginning of each half. Sacarellos picked up his third point as a Mountaineer, to go along with a goal in the Delaware game.

Mount St. Mary's hosts Marist at 1 p.m. next Saturday, October 7.
