Men's Soccer Opens MAAC Play at Home Against Fairfield on Saturday Night

Mount St. Mary's opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on Saturday night when Fairfield visits Waldron Family Stadium.  Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mountaineers are coming off a tough outing last Saturday, falling to No. 8 James Madison, 6-0.  The Mount has registered five goals this season with five different goal scorers.  Bobby Marsteller and Dominik Topolsky are tied for the team lead with three points (1g, 1a).  Ethan Russell has played every minute in goal, recording a 2.80 goals against average with a .600 save percentage (21 saves).  

ABOUT FAIRFIELD:  Fairfield extended its win streak to three games with a 3-1 victory over LIU on Wednesday night.  Tyler Reavis and Thomas Drillen tallied first-half goal to put Fairfield ahead, 2-0.  After the Sharks cut the deficit in half, Kaea Rangihaeata sealed the victory with a goal in the 88th minute.  Rangihaeata leads the team with five points (2g, 1a) while William Pierce has a pair of goals. James Anderson started the first four games in goal and has a 1.00 goals against average and 16 saves.  Victor Nikolov earned the start against LIU, allowing one goal with two saves.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES WITH FAIRFIELD:  This will be the second all-time meeting between the Mountaineers and Stags with Fairfield capturing the first matchup, 1-0, last season.  After a scoreless first half, the Mount conceded an early goal in the second half and the Stags held on for the win.  The Mount held an 11-8 shot advantage, but Fairfield had a 12-to-2 corner kick edge in the game.  Fairfield's Raz Amir scored in the 49th minute for the lone goal of the contest.
