Women’s Basketball Adds Six for 2023-24 Season

EMMITSBURG, Md. (July 14, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball announces the recruitment of six student-athletes ahead of the 2023-24 season. The group has three graduate transfers, a JUCO transfer, and a pair of true freshmen.
 
KC Carter, G, 5-8, Brooklyn, New York | Cornell
 
Carter joins the Mountaineers as a postgraduate, earning a degree from the college of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell. She appeared in 31 contests for the Big Red over parts of two seasons, averaging 13 minutes with 3.7 points per game as a junior.
 
Prior to Ithaca, Carter competed at the Holderness School in New Hampshire, becoming a 2,000 point scorer at the interscholastic level. A two-time NEPSAC Class D Player of the Year, she also received a nomination for the 2019 McDonald's All-American Team.
 
Jackie Christ, C, 6-3, Sterling, Virginia | Radford
 
Christ comes to Emmitsburg for her graduate year, after playing two seasons at Radford, preceded by two years at Appalachian State. Last year, Christ played in 30 contests with nine starts for the Highlanders, shooting 53.9 percent from the floor and grabbing 52 rebounds.
 
Originally from Northern Virginia, she comes from a family line of athletes. All four of her brothers, father and uncle all played football at various stages, from FCS level to earning professional contracts.
 
Tessa Engelman, F, 6-2, Calgary, Alberta, Canada| DME Academy
 
Engelman joins the Mount as the first Canadian player on the squad since Caroline Hummel, who last competed in 2017-18. After winning the Calgary City Championship in an undefeated ninth grade year where she was MVP, Engelman moved to Florida, attending the DME Basketball Academy in Daytona Beach. While there, the team took home a SIAA Florida State title as a senior.
 
In addition to her basketball prowess, she was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated co-valedictorian.
 
Gabrielle Kennerly, G, 5-8, Ellicott City, Maryland | Howard HS
 
The Howard County Player of the Year for 2022 and 2023, Kennerly brings multiple accolades to Emmitsburg. She was a Maryland All-State honoree, and a First Team selection by both the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post. Last season, the Howard Lions went 26-1 with an unblemished record in league play, resulting in a No. 9 Maryland ranking, according to MaxPreps.
 
Kennerly also received an All-Academic selection for the state of Maryland.
 
Maddie Novak, G, 6-0, Oxford, Michigan | Stetson
 
A four-year contributor for the Stetson Hatters, Novak brings another's shooter presence to the Mount. Last season, the guard cracked Stetson's top 10 for three-pointers made, logging 99 for her undergraduate career. Her best year was her sophomore season, where Novak averaged 6.7 points per game.
 
In addition to basketball accolades, Novak has been a member of the Atlantic Sun Academic Honor Roll. A Detroit suburbanite, Maddie also has a family athletic background, and like Christ, her father played football for the Naval Academy. 
 
Rosa Revueltas, G, 5-8, Almeria, Spain | Arizona Western
 
Revueltas makes the transition to the Division I level after year-long stints with two junior colleges – Eastern Wyoming and Arizona Western. Last season for the Matadors, Rosa finished the campaign with 9.6 points per game and 2.7 rebounds across 30 games.
 
The previous season playing in the Equality State, Revueltas competed in another 30 games for the Lancers, averaging 12.1 points per contest and earned a spot on the Region IX All-Tournament Team.
