Poughkeepsie, New York (April 7, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's wins game two on the road against Marist, 10-8.
Cooper Adams secures his fifth win of the season (5-1) after finishing seven innings and recording four strikeouts.
The Mountaineers were the first on the board today after having consecutive scoring innings in the second and third.
David Stirpe started things off with two outs as he singled up the middle. Stirpe stole second to put himself into scoring position. The next batter,
Gavin Lacoe hit him in on an RBI single.
Jayson Kramer went 3-5 at the plate today and started his day with an RBI single of his own, batting
Scott Seeker in, 2-0.
The Red Fox scored three runs in the third and fourth innings to take their first lead of the game.
Kramer stepped back in the box in the fifth inning and hit a three-run home run which allowed
Tyler Long to score and Seeker to cross the plate for the second time today. A good defensive stand for the Mount sent them to the top of the sixth ahead, 5-3.
JT Landwehr hit an RBI double to right field allowing Lacoe to cross for the first time today. Landwehr then advanced to third a dropped third strike to put himself in prime position to score. On the next pitch he was able to advance home on a wild pitch, 7-3.
Two fly-outs and a strike out swinging sent the Red Fox back out to the mound down four runs. A
Brady Drawbaugh single put him on base for a
Shane Wockley two run bomb in the top of the seventh, 9-3. Landwehr recorded his second RBI of the day after ripping a single to the outfield which allowed Stirpe to score.
Marist scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to stay in the game on two RBI singles. The Red Fox made a stand defensively which brought them to the bottom of the ninth down 10-6. Colin Mackle hit a two RBI single which cut the deficit, 10-8. Nonetheless,
Jake Andrews was able to pitch out of the inning and finish the game to secure the Mount's second conference win in the MAAC.
