Emmitsburg, Md. (April 16, 2023)--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's tennis teams celebrated Senior Day on Sunday at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts.  The women's team prevailed over St. Bonaventure, 4-3, while the men's team was edged by the same 4-3 margin.

In the women's match, the Mount won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the doubles point.  Amber Policare and Bella Pescatore were 7-6 winners at No. 1 doubles while Victoria Papadopoulou and Shirley Liang won 7-5 at No. 2.

In singles play, Papadopoulou stretched her personal win streak to 12 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Alexandra Jansson at the No. 1 singles position.  Papadopoulou is now 19-3 in singles play this year.  Policare also won in straight sets, a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles for her 14th singles win this season.  Liang provided the Mount's last point with a win at No. 4 singles. 

The men's team was edged by the Bonnies, 4-3, on Sunday.  The Mount took the lead in the match by winning two of three doubles matches for the doubles point. The Mount's first win in doubles came from No. 3 pair of Christos Dagklis and Marcel Cronin by a 6-3 margin.  The winning doubles point came from the Mount's No. 2 tandem Jarrett Karnibad and Filippos Zachiotis by a 7-5 score.  Karnibad and Zachiotis won for the 21st time this season, extending their school record set in the last match against Marist. 

In singles play, Dagklis rallied from a set down to take home a win at No. 3 singles while Zachiotis won in straight sets at No. 2 singles.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday at home against Loyola.
