Charlottesville, Va. (April 12, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's lost to the #7 Virginia Cavaliers 16-4 in what was a notable effort by the Mountaineers. The team put together four runs on six hits against one of the juggernauts of NCAA division I baseball.
Tyler Long was the first to score today after reaching first on his first at bat via being hit by a pitch. Long was pushed into scoring position after consecutive ground outs from
Scott Seeker and
Aiden Tierney, 1-0.
Brady Drawbaugh went 2-3 at the plate with a two-run home run in the first inning which allowed
Jayson Kramer to score. In the top of the third Tierney was able to score his first as Drawbaugh grounded into a double play, allowing Tierney to cross the plate.
The Cavaliers were playing to keep their 20-0 home record alive which kept the Mount at bay and from crossing the plate.
Junior
Evan Haulik pitched 2.0 innings, allowed zero runs on zero hits, and struck three batters out through 10 batters faced.
