DELAND, Fla. (March 4, 2023) – Brady Drawbaugh hit a two-run homerun to tie the score against the Pitt Panthers, but the opposition rallied in the third inning en route to a 10-2 final Saturday in Florida.
Drawbaugh's shot was one of four hits for the Mount on the day
. Tyler Long,
Scott Seeker and
David Stirpe all logged singles on the afternoon.
Luke Pryor had a tough start on the mound, but
Max Moore contributed 3 1/3 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Pitt put up two runs in the first on RBI's from Jack Anderson and AJ Nessler. With one out in the bottom of the second,
Efrain Correa, Jr. was hit by a pitch, setting up the Drawbuagh play. All four runs for Pitt in the third came with the first five batters of the frame. Justin Acal's round tripper capped off the inning.
Add-on runs in the fourth, eighth and ninth sealed the game for the Panthers. Acal finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored.
Mount St. Mary's is now 6-5 on the year, while Pitt is 6-4. The team's stay in Florida concludes Monday (Mar. 6) with a nighttime showdown with Stetson. Game time is 6:30 p.m. from DeLand.
