EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 29, 2023) – Facing an 8-1 deficit, the Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse battled to attempt an improbable comeback against the Manhattan Jaspers. They would get within three but not further in an 11-8 defeat.

Anna Salerno,
Hailey Chester and
Abby Osmeyer posted two goals each for the Mountaineers.
Madison Bradley had a 50 percent save rate and limited the Jaspers to three goals in the second half.
Sophia Culmone put up a solid showing on defense with three ground balls and a caused turnover.

The seven goal lead by the home side was built over the opening 20 minutes of the game. Mount St. Mary's began their comeback with scores by Chester and
Dani Donoghue. But neither team could find the back of the net during the final five minutes of the half, and the Mount trailed 8-3 at the break.

Salerno's two successes came in an effort to spark the Mountaineers late in the third quarter. Blasting shots with 4:11 and 3:17 left, the sophomore pulled the visitors within three. Stingy defense by both teams would not budge, however, as the teams combined for two goals the rest of the way.

With the defeat, the Mount falls to 2-8 (1-1 MAAC) for the season. The team heads back on the road Saturday (Apr. 1) to face Siena.
