Emmitsburg, Md. (March 29, 2023)--Mount St. Mary's dropped to 1-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 4-3 loss to Rider at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts on Wednesday.  The Mountaineers are 4-6 on the year.

Rider won two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point for a 1-0 lead in the match.  The Mount's Bella Pescatore and Amber Policare won 6-3 over Leila Koster and Agnese Ceccarelli at the No. 1 spot to even the doubles score at 1-1.  The deciding match came down to a tiebreaker, and Rider's Samantha Killin and Sofia Gutierrez were able to edge the Mount's Shirley Liang and Victoria Papadopoulou, 7-6 (7-3) to secure the point.

In singles play, Papadopoulou cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Koster at No. 1 singles while Liang downed Gutierrez, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 5 singles.  The Mount's Pescatore provided the final point with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.

The Mount's match against Delaware State tomorrow has been postponed until April 20.  The Mount returns to the courts with a pair of MAAC road matches at Quinnipiac on Saturday and Fairfield on Sunda.
