Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (March 26, 2023)—Mount St. Mary's cruised to a 6-1 win over visiting Niagara on Sunday afternoon at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts.  The win is the Mount's first-ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference dual match victory.  The Mount (3-5, 1-1 MAAC) is in its first season in the conference.

The Mountaineers captured two of three doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match.  Amber Policare and Bella Pescatore clinched the point with a 6-4 win at the No. 1 doubles position.  The Mount's Shirley Liang and Victoria Papadopoulou combined for a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot while Niagara's Erika Gonzalez and Enrica Favaron defeated the Mount's Adriana Barney and Ryan McCarthy, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Papadopoulou was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles while Policare defeated Elena Mayet, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.  Pescatore defeated Jaida Borg in straight sets (7-5, 6-2) at No. 4 singles with Liang earning a 6-2, 6-3 win over Mercedes Velasco at No. 5.  Ana Alvarez-Storni closed the match for the Mount with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Favaron for the 6-1 victory.

Mount St. Mary's is back in action tomorrow at Saint Francis U.
