EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 11, 2023) – A 6-1 deficit after the fourth quarter did not deter the Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team. An offense that had trouble the first 45 minutes found success in the final 15, but it was not enough to complete a comeback over Bucknell, falling 11-8 Saturday.
 
Dani Donoghue and Abby Osmeyer added three goal efforts to lead the team. Lindsey Tolliver scored in her second straight game, and Logan Cook posted her second goal of the year. Goalkeeper Madison Bradley was strong from the second quarter on, earning nine saves while allowing five goals after the opening frame.
 
Turnovers and missed opportunities on clears were inhibitors for the Mount. The team committed 26 giveaways and collected nine failed clears on the afternoon.
 
The contest was a wire-to-wire finish for the Bison, beginning with a 2-0 start. Osmeyer cut the deficit in half, but Bucknell responded with a 4-0 run. Nine different Bison scored the first nine goals before Allie Boyce found the back of the net a second time in the third period.
 
Down 10-3 entering the fourth, the Mount did not go quiet. Two free position goals and Donoghue's 13^th on the season trimmed the gap from seven to four. Bucknell forced turnovers to stop the run and posted their final goal with 3:32 remaining. Osmeyer and Donoghue added one more successful strike each in the last minute.
 
Bucknell stands at 4-2 after the win, and Mount St. Mary's falls to 1-5 with the loss.
 
The Mountaineers hit the road Wednesday (Mar. 15), challenging Old Dominion. The contest marks the first time the program will challenge the Monarchs.
