EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 11, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse dropped their conference opener to Manhattan, 9-3. A strong defensive display, more specifically, by Jaspers goalie Joseph Persico was the deciding factor in the Mount's loss.

The Mountaineers kept the competition close in the first quarter, ending 3-2 after
Jake Krieger assisted by
Jeremy Wilson, and
William Vandergrift unassisted scored the Mount's first two. Kreiger,
Kyle Cullen, and Vandergrift contributed on the offensive, each adding a goal to their season tally. Goalie
Griffin McGinley notched five saves.

Dan MacKinney led the Jaspers with three goals on three shots on goal while adding three ground balls to his sheet. Persico produced a strong effort allowing only 3 of 15 shots scored while tallying 12 saves.

Mount St. Mary's faces LIU at Waldron Family Stadium next Saturday (Mar. 18).
