EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 4, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's needed overtime to see a three-game losing streak come to an end, holding tough on the road against Siena in a 77-75 victory. The triumph improves to 9-13 (5-8 MAAC) on the season. They also earned a season sweep over the Saints.
 
Aryna Taylor had her best performance this season, finishing with 20 points.

Natalie Villaflor tallied 15 points each, with Tomasetti securing a team-high eight rebounds. 
Jo Raflo also reached double figures, adding 12. On defense, the Mount forced 15 steals – a new season high – contributing to 23 Siena turnovers.
 
Saturday's win serves significance for the program, as it is the 800
th victory in team history.
 
Siena received double-doubles from Anajah Brown and Teresa Seppala. The Saints fell to 14-9 (8- MAAC).
 
Mount St. Mary's built leads as high as eight in both the first and second halves. Siena mounted a rally after the Mount took a 59-51 advantage, cutting it down to one possession with 2:16 remaining. 
Isabella Hunt made one of two at the line to go up 63-60 with 1:12 to go, leaving the door wide enough for the Saints. A layup, jumper and two foul shots flipped the score to 66-63 Siena. Needing a trey for the tie, Tomasetti fired an attempt from the wing, banking the shot with two seconds left.
 
The teams went back-and-forth in the overtime frame. Villaflor found room in the paint for a jumper, and after Siena regained the lead on a free throw, Tomasetti leveled proceedings at 70 with a foul shot. Raflo would score the next four points on a three pointer, adding another at the line.
 
With the contest tied at 74 and in control for the final shot, Raflo charged into the lane, drawing a foul from Seppala. The sophomore made both at the stripe with nine seconds left. Siena surged towards their bucket, drawing enough contact from Taylor to get to the line, fouling out. However, Anajah Brown missed the front end, forcing the Saints back into a fouling scenario. 
Michaela Harrison hit one for good measure and the ensuing inbound was stolen by Raflo to end the game.
 
Taylor helped the Mount hold the upper hand in the first half. By the end of the first quarter, the senior had 11 points. Harrison posted five points in the second quarter. The Mountaineers took both periods by two points for a 34-30 lead. The team is 7-3 this year and 21-4 under Coach 
Antoine White when leading at the break.  
 
The Mountaineers return to the Knott Arena floor next Saturday (Feb. 11) to challenge Saint Peter's. A 1 p.m. tip is scheduled.
