EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 26, 2023) – In contention until the final 10 frames, Mount St. Mary's bowling captured a second place finish at the Medaille Brunswick Classic in Buffalo, New York. Forcing a winner-take-all in the best-of-seven bracket play, #18 Mount fell 210-183 to #14 Mercyhurst.

Quint Bakers opened play on Sunday. The Mount shot a 876 out of the gate, which came in a loss to D'Youville. They rebounded with a 943 score and a win over Hilbert but took another hit when host #19 Medaille edged the Mount by a single pin, 927-926, setting up brackets.
Despite the 1-2 finish in Quint Bakers, the Mountaineers clinched the number one seed entering the brackets. The opener set up a rematch with fourth seeded D'Youville. Averaging 205.5 in a clean sweep, the Mount matched or improved every game, culminating in a 236 game to advance to the final.
The championship match against Mercyhurst was back-and-forth from the outset. After the Mount retaliated from a three-pin loss in game one with a 268 and 198 to go up 2-1, the Lakers punched back including a 222-217 game five win to go up 3-2. Mount stayed alive with a 188-181 showing to force the seventh showdown, but Mercyhurst's 210 was enough to take the crown.
Mount St. Mary's stands at 72-46 on the season.
Next up for the team is the USBC Sectionals the weekend of March 10
th-12
th. The team received an allocation to the Nashville bracket.
