Although the stats show it was a wire-to-wire finish, Mount St. Mary's managed to keep proceedings close up to the second half. Delaware went up 3-0 before McMahon's first on the day got the Mount on the board. The graduate student's second pulled the home side back within two early in the second. Gravante's goal halved the deficit as the teams went into the locker room, 6-3 in favor of Delaware.
The visiting Blue Hens strung together a 4-0 run out of halftime, in effect cementing the contest. Wilson's two goals brought the Mount back within five but that would be as close as they would get. Delaware put the finishing touches in the fourth, outscoring the Mountaineers by a 5-1 margin.
The Mount hits the road to face NJIT this Saturday (Feb. 18) with a 2 p.m. start time.
