EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 11, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse got off to an inauspicious start to the 2023 season. Hosting the Towson Tigers, the Mount fell 11-4 Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Dani Donoghue registered a multi-point game by scoring twice.
Hailey Chester got the first goal of her collegiate career and
Molly Molchanoff got her third. Goalkeeper
Madison Bradley denied Towson seven times with saves.
Milana Zizakovic and Lindsey Marshall recorded hat tricks for Towson. Marshall was the leader in points with five. In the net, Jo Torres earned a game-high 12 saves.
The contest served as the opener for both teams, making Towson 1-0 and Mount 0-1.
Towson went wire-to-wire in the game, scoring the first four goals. Donoghue and Chester posted first period goals to cut the deficit in half, but two points would be the closest the Mount would get. After Molchanoff pulled the game within 5-3, the Tigers scored the next two goals and never looked back. Donoghue's second score with 11 minutes left in the third turned out to be the only goal the Mountaineers registered in the second half.
Mount St. Mary's travel to High Point next Saturday (Feb. 18).
