Emmitsburg, Md. (December 23, 2023)—Six players scored in double figures as Mount St. Mary's rolled to an 87-59 win over LIU on Saturday afternoon at Knott Arena.
Joshua Reaves paced the Mount with a game-high 17 points while
George Tinsley added his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 boards.
The Mount (5-7) closed the first half on an 11-2 run to take a 45-30 lead at the break. Leading 34-28, Tinsley scored in the pain and added a three-pointer from the corner to give the Mountaineers their first double-digit lead of the game. After a pair of LIU free throws,
De'Shayne Montgomery scored the final six points of the half, capping the run with a dunk off a steal.
LIU pulled within 12 in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Mount responded with a 17-to-4 spurt to stretch the advantage to 64-39. Five different players scored during the run that included a pair of Reaves three-pointers. From there, the Mount cruised to the win.
Reaves hit 5-of-7 from three-point range en route to his game-high 17 points. Tinsley finished 6-of-8 from the field for his 16-point effort while adding 10 boards for his first double-double of the year.
Dakota Leffew added 11 points and seven assists with Montgomery chipping in 11 points and six boards in the victory.
Jedy Cordilia added 10 points and six rebounds with
Terrell Ard, Jr., scoring 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
Dallas Hobbs dished out a game-high eight assists for the Mount as well. Tana Kopa and Tai Strickland led LIU with 12 points each.
The Mount shot 52.5 percent (31-of-59) from the field in the game, including 10-of-24 (.417) from three-point range. The Mount held LIU to 34.6 percent shooting overall and 1-of-11 from beyond the three-point arc.
The Mount returns to the court on Saturday, December 30, with a noon game at Delaware State.
