EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 6, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's picked up three victories and registered a high pinfall to advance to the championship for the second straight tournament. But the host Purple Eagles took the title game in six rounds, giving the Mount a runner-up finish.
Sophomore
Sierra Calo had the highest Baker average for the Mountaineers, posting a 20.84 for the afternoon.
Alyssa Balest also earned a Baker over 20 pins per frame (20.67), followed by another freshman in
Leah Varela (19.41). Senior
Alyssa Alexander (19.20) and sophomore
Gianna McGahan (19.00) were solid throughout today's competition.
After rolling an 888 on the bye, the Mount earned wins against Roberts Wesleyan, Pitt Bradford, and William Smith. Averaging 937 pins per round permitted the championship game placement. Despite the Mount finishing with a higher pinfall for the round again, Niagara held on with a couple big scores to keep ahead. The Mount forced game six which went to the wine, but the Purple Eagles grinded a two-pin win to take the championship.

With the 7-2 showing at the Brunswick Fall Open, the Mountaineers improved their season record to 15-6.
Two weekends from now, Mount St. Mary's heads to Woodbridge, Virginia for the Hawk Classic, a joint venture tournament hosted by UMES and Monmouth.
