BUFFALO, N.Y. (November 4, 2023) – Freshmen Piper Chalmers paced the Mountaineers and the entire field in route in a first place finish in individual standings and tournament MVP honors. The first-year player from Washington state rolled a 216, 218, 170, 215 and 257 in route to a 1,076 series and a 215.2 average. Sophomore Trishelle Leal Uribe was not far behind her as she went 228, 211, 190, 191, and 226 for a 1,046 series (209.2 average) and third place in individual standings. Both players will be named to the All-Tournament Team tomorrow. Senior Alyssa Alexander contributed nicely as well, going 1,008 (201.6) for five.

Overall, the team currently sits first with more than a 150-pin cushion over second place and tournament host Niagara. The ladies went 4-1 on the day with wins over Niagara, D'Youville, Bryant, and Hilbert. The Mountaineers lone loss came at the hands of No. 15 Mercyhurst, who got a huge 279 game from their anchor after having the first eight strikes. That and a few missed opportunities ended up being the difference in match decided by less than 50 pins.

Four more matches of the Baker total pin fall variety await tomorrow before a position round best-of-seven. Should the Mount remain in the top two heading into the best-of-seven they will compete for their second straight tournament title.
