EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 13, 2023) – After earning a point in their most recent match, Mount St. Mary's men's soccer battles Canisius in the final Saturday showdown at Waldron Family Stadium.  
 
Before the match begins, the Mount honors members of its senior class – Ian Buckwalter, Anthony Milazzo, Markus Nilsen, Raimondo Partito, Gavin Pennell, Ethan Russell, Nathan Stricker, and Erick Villatoro.  
 
MOUNT UPDATE: Junee Lee scored for the second consecutive match as the Mount picked up a point in a 1-1 tie with Marist. The contest proved to be an even match, with Mount holding the slight edge in shots 12-11 and Marist in saves four to three.
 
With the team off Wednesday, they moved to eighth place in the standings but remain one point out of a possible playoff spot.
 
ABOUT CANISIUS: The Golden Griffins have earned draws with Quinnipiac and Fairfield but are still looking for their first win in conference play. Michael Switala is the team's leader in goals with four and points with nine, and Ely Sidibe has the most assists with three.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: The teams met for the first time with the Mount's corresponding move to the MAAC. Rallying from a deficit, goals from Raul Luna and Ondrej Soukup led to a 2-1 win. It was the Mountaineers' first victory in the new league.  
 
UP NEXT: Mount St. Mary's host Canisius next Saturday, October 14 with a 1 p.m. kickoff. Senior Day festivities take place before the contest.
