LAS VEGAS, Nev. (January 8, 2023) – In what was destined to be a challenging field, the Mount St. Mary's bowling team struggled to get their footing on day one of the Stormin' Blue & White Vegas Classic. The Mount finds themselves in 10
th place after a 1-4 day.
Averaging 188.1 across the day, the team finished with a total pinfall of 4,703.
#15 Mount: 941 | #9 Louisiana Tech: 971
The first contest of the morning came down to the final 10 frames, but the Bulldogs managed to pull away with a 209. Mount St. Mary's built a small cushion after two games that was washed out by a 223 Louisiana Tech score in game three. The Mount's best effort was a 208 showing in the second game.
#15 Mount: 864 | Spalding: 742
A victory over the Golden Eagles turned out to be the lone triumph of the day, and even then, the challenging conditions led to the team's lowest score for any match. The bright spot in the win was an even 200 in game two.

Numbers improved out of the gate with a strong 203 with the #4 ranked Cornhuskers, but was met with a 258. Playing catch up the rest of the way the Mount tried to push back hard with a 201 and 216 to finish. In the end it was not enough as the opening margin stood firm.

Again the Mountaineers dug themselves a hole and were unable to pull out of it. However once again it was not for lack for effort. The fourth game featured seven strikes in a row for a 234 but the Wildcats responded with a strike string of their own to hold the Mountaineers at bay.

Despite hitting their stride for the best score on Sunday, this time the Mount succumbed to a comeback by the Saints. After building up a healthy lead through two games Maryville posted scores of 228, 204 and 268 to send the Mountaineers to defeat for the fourth time.
