ARLINGTON, Tex. (January 28, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's bowling gathered two victories on the opening day of the Prairie View A&M Invitational, which features a challenging field of the top 11 teams from last season. The Mount defeated #9 Louisiana Tech and the host Panthers on Friday.
Alyssa Alexander led the way in the anchor spot, sporting a 21.84 baker frame average.
Trishelle Leal Uribe and
Sierra Calo also posted solid showings with respective averages of 18.98 and 18.05.

A rocky finish, coupled with a 224 and 192 efforts from the Huskers, gave the Mount a defeat to open play in the tournament. The one bright spot was a 216 score in the third game.

Scores were more consistent for the Mountaineers, but the Bearkats blazed out of the gates with games of 223, 227 and 216 to build themselves an advantage. Mount managed to chip into the SHSU lead, providing momentum in the next round.

Settling into the lineup that would be used the rest of the day, the Mount tallied its highest score and first win of the day. Using scores of 225 (their highest in a single game for the day), 210 and 197, they outlasted their opponents in all but one game, ultimately cruising to the victory.
#15 Mount: 917 | #6 Arkansas State: 1036
The Red Wolves posted the same five-game total as the Bearkats, overcoming the Mount in a similar fashion. Arkansas State averaged 216 across the first three games to the Mount's 190 and rode that lead to the end of the round.
#15 Mount: 965 | Prairie View A&M: 818
Needing to piece together a small rally after a 165 opener, the Mountaineers did so, staying above 180 the rest of the way as they pulled away from the Panthers. Game two saw a score of 216, while the fifth and final game was a 211.
