EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 7, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's men's soccer seeks two straight wins on the road when they travel to Bucknell Friday.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
Last Monday in the nation's capital, the Mountaineers jumped out to a 2-0 lead off a pair of goals from
Ruben Kiers. They then held on thanks to big saves from
Ethan Russell for a 2-1 win, marking the second straight victory against George Washington.
Jesus Salazar supplied both assists to keep his team lead at seven points. His five assists are tied for the most in the nation. Kiers upped his goal count to three, surpassing
Marcus Lewis at two. Russell increased his save percentage to 79.3 percent and now has 23 for the year.
ABOUT BUCKNELL
The Bison are 1-3 on the season, defeating Saint Peter's this past Sunday 2-1, with losses to Loyola Chicago, DePaul and St. Bonaventure. Michael Dempsey and Mo Tall are the goal scorers with one tally each. Bennett Schwartz is looking to improve in the net, allowing nine of the 17 shots on goal he's faced so far to score.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Mount St. Mary's and Bucknell have met on 12 previous occasions, and three of the past four seasons. The Bison captured a 2-1 win in Emmitsburg last year, while the Mount defeated Bucknell by the same score in Lewisburg in 2019. All-time, the Mountaineers lead by a 7-5 margin.
