EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 16, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's fought hard for a scoreless draw at the break, but Penn's offense found gaps in the second half on the way to handing the Mount a 5-0 defeat Friday at Waldron Family Stadium.
The Mountaineers finished the contest with four shots, one of which went on goal.
Ruben Kiers gave the Mount their best opportunity with a laser at the net in the 60
th minute. Penn keeper Nick Christofferson deflected the shot over the bar.
Ethan Russell had a busy night in the net, finishing with seven saves. Three of those came in the first half to keep the game at 0-0 heading into halftime.
For Penn, Michael Hewes began the scoring with a goal in the 53
rd minute. He would finish with two scores on the night. Leo Burney connected on his own rebound 10 minutes later, and Ben Stitz and Stas Korzeniowski sealed the match by scoring their attempts within 45 seconds of each other.
The Quakers collect a second consecutive win against the Mount in the all-time series and work their record up to 3-1-1.
