EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 9, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse picks up their third consecutive NEC win as they hold off LIU 13-9.
Zoe Hurlburt had a career-high in goals and points with five goals and seven points.
Erin Anderson had a career-high five goals to help lead the offense, while five Mountaineers registered a point. The Mount held an 18-8 advantage over the Sharks in draw controls.
Leah Nonnenmann had four goals and one assist, while Hannah Kenneally and Francesca Vasile-Cozzo had three assists and one goal.
Madison Bradley made six saves for the Mountaineers, while Hailey Duchnowski made ten saves for the Sharks.
Anderson scored inside the first minute to give the Mount a 1-0 lead, then Hurlburt scored on a free position attempt to double the lead at the 13:35 mark. LIU made the score 2-1 on their next possession, but Anderson restored the lead to two with 11:03 left in the first. The Sharks scored on Nonnenmann's first goal, but 46 seconds later, Hurlburt found
Beanie Colson wide open in front of the net and scored the opportunity to keep the lead at two. The Mount and LIU traded late goals to have a 5-3 score at the end of the first quarter.
The Sharks cut the lead back down to one, but Hurlburt ran around her defender and fired a low shot that got past Duchnowski to maintain a two goal advantage. The Mount and LIU traded goals to make the score 7-5, then Hurlburt scored two goals 39 seconds apart to increase the lead to four with 3:13 left. LIU scored before halftime to make the score 9-6 going into the locker room.
The third quarter started with both teams trading possessions until Anderson found the back of the net for the Mount's only goal of the third quarter to increase the lead to four again. Amanda Masullo scored the Sharks only goal with 37 seconds left in the quarter to trail 10-7.
LIU's Nonnenmann scored two goals to make the score 10-9, but the Mountaineers closed the game out on a 3-0 to secure the victory. Hurlburt got her fifth goal when she created enough space to fire a shot around her defender and fired a shot to make it 11-9. The Mount's next possession Anderson scored her fifth to increase the lead to three.

Lindsey Tolliver to pick the ninth win of the season.
