EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 22, 2022) – A close contest at the outset, Mount St. Mary's baseball saw Central Connecticut pull away in the middle innings. Hopes to break a recent group of defeats will have to wait another day as the Mount fell 10-0.
Blue Devils pitching ended up holding the Mountaineers to a four-hit shutout.
Brady Drawbaugh registered two safeties in three at-bats, along with singles from
Aiden Tierney and
Connor Buggy.
Steve Schenning got the start on the bump and settled in for a couple of frames after a first inning home run by CCSU's Dan Covino. In the fourth, Jay Devito reignited the offensive charge with an RBI single. Triples by Hunter Pasqualini and Sam Loda extended the lead even further.
Freshman
Jason Rivera stemmed the offensive tide with two innings of shutout pitching, including four strikeouts.
Game two between the sides commences at 1 p.m. Saturday in New Britain.
