Emmitsburg, Md. (April 2, 2022)--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's tennis teams fell to visiting St. Francis Brooklyn in Northeast Conference matchups at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. The men fell by the score of 4-0 while the women were edged, 4-3.
In the women's match, the Mountaineers were edged by a 4-3 margin. The Terriers won the doubles point by taking two of three matches. The Mount's
Ana Alvarez-Storni and
Ryan McCarthy won at No. 3 doubles over Gayathri Rajesh and Valentine Mudry, 6-1. St. Francis won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn the point.
In singles play, the Mount got wins from
Amber Policare over Mia Skrbinsek at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-2), Alvarez-Storni over Rajesh at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-0) and McCarthy over Mudry at No. 6 singles (6-3, 6-3).
The men's team lost to the Terriers by a 4-0 margin. St. Francis Brooklyn won the doubles point by winning two of three matches. The Mount's tandem of
Filippos Zachiotis and
Jarrett Karnibad took a 7-5 win ovr Luis Fox Sotos and Matheus Paiva, 7-5. St. Francis Brooklyn won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by identical 6-3 scores to earn the point.
Mount St. Mary's men's tennis returns to the court tomorrow with a home match against Navy.Â
