Women's Tennis Downed by George Mason

The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team lost at George Mason, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon.  Adriana Barney earned the Mount's point with a straight-set win at No. 3 singles.

The Mountaineers (3-8) were edged in doubles as George Mason took the 1-0 lead.  Amber Policare and Barney lost in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (8-6) to Grace Hashiguchi and Jackie Nannery at the No. 1 doubles position while Ryan McCarthy and Ana Alvarez-Storni lost in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-3) to Savanna Crowell and Emily Wirt at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Barney posted a 6-34, 6-3 win over Brianna Gibbs at No. 3 singles for the Mount's point in the match.  George Mason won the other five singles matches in straight sets.

The Mount returns to the court on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Northeast Conference match against St. Francis Brooklyn at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts.
