Baseball’s Slugfest Goes to Bison, 11-9

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 29, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's baseball found themselves in an offensive juggernaut with the Bucknell Bison. A pair of eighth inning runs gave the homestanding Bison a 11-9 victory.

Tyler Long was the eminent offensive player for the Mount with three hits, with Brady Drawbaugh coming through in the clutch with three RBIs. Isaac Van Meter delivered two scoreless innings in the defeat.

A seven-run inning put the Mount in prime position to take the midweek contest. Down 3-1 after three innings, Long began the rally with a single to score Giovanni Calamia. Tristan McAlister singled home Tyler Grodell for a 4-3 lead. That's when Drawbaugh stepped in with a double to clear the bases, followed by a Matt McTighe sacrifice to hold an 8-3 advantage.

Bucknell mounted an immediate comeback. After three innings they closed the gap to 8-6, and a two-run single in the fifth knotted the scored at 8-8. Grant Yoytovich's double play grounder resulted in a run for a 9-8 Bison lead. Mount St. Mary's managed a tie in the seventh, but Bucknell runs in the eighth secured the win.
