EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 27, 2022) – A third inning grand slam from the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights proved vital in defeating Mount St. Mary's, 9-4, during Sunday's series finale.
Giovanni Calamia made his first collegiate start at third base, delivering two hits including a double, and scoring twice.
Aiden Tierney also went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI. Pitchers tallied seven strikeouts, with starter
Cooper Adams contributing four.
Max Moore dispatched a scoreless relief appearance.
A sacrifice fly from
Tristan McAlister gave the Mount a 1-0 lead after the top of the first. But FDU countered to tie, setting up the third frame. With a 1-1 tie and the bases loaded, Brelon Harden smashed a homerun for a 5-1 Knights advantage.
FDU maintained the pace the rest of the way. Mount added runs when
Tyler Long scored Calamia twice in the later innings and again on Tierney's RBI single.
