Dover, Del. (March 22, 2022)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team fell at Delaware State, 6-1, on Tuesday afternoon.
Riya Mathur posted a win at No. 4 singles to secure the Mount's point in the match.
Delaware State won two of three tightly contested doubles matches to take the doubles point.
Shirley Liang and Mathur teamed for a 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles over Kit Yi Kaye Au-Yeung and Eva Golbiovski for the Mount's win in doubles. However, Klaudiia Lisovska and Baluck Deang edged the Mount's Ana-Alvarez Storni and
Ryan McCarthy, 7-6, at No. 3 doubles while Iris Leder and Daria Jula edged the Mount's
Amber Policare and
Adriana Barney, 7-5, at No. 1 doubles to secure the doubles point for the Hornets (6-3).
In singles, Mathur earned a 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-8) win over Leder at the No. 4 position for the Mount's point in the match.
Mount St. Mary's is back in action on Saturday, March 26, when Wagner visits the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts for a Northeast Conference matchup. The match begins at 1:00 p.m.
