Mount Men’s Lacrosse Downed by Saint Joseph’s to Open NEC Play

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 19, 2022)- The Mountaineers start Northeast Conference play 0-1 after Saint Joseph's holds the Mount to six goals as the Hawks win 19-6. Jake Krieger led the Mountaineers with one goal and two points, while five players tallied one point. Saint Joseph's outshot the Mount 45-31.
 
Levi Anderson and Carter Page each registered five points, Page scored five goals, and Anderson with four. Tucker Brown added four goals to lead the charge for the Hawks.
 
The Mount made nine saves, with Griffin McGinley making four saves, while Gunnar Luckoski made five. Saint Joseph's made nine saves, with Robbie Seeley getting seven saves with Tucker Almany registering two.
 
Kyle DeCrispino got the Mountaineers on the scoreboard first when Krieger found DeCrispino wide open in front of the net, who made a move to beat Seeley to take a 1-0 lead. The Hawks took a 2-1 lead less than two minutes later, but Jack Bauer scored his third goal of the year on a bouncer to tie the score at two with 4:27 left. Saint Joseph's ended the first quarter on a 3-0 run that was started when Zach Cole won the faceoff and scored five seconds later.
 
The Hawks started the second quarter on a 6-0 that spanned just under eight minutes. Brown and Page each scored two goals during the run to increase the lead to 11-2 with 4:34 left in the quarter. Jared McMahon found the scoresheet on a nice pass from Krieger to reduce the deficit to eight, but Anderson scored 17 seconds later to give Saint Joseph's a 12-3 heading into halftime.
 
The Hawks continued where they left on scoring three goals to start the third quarter to increase the lead to 12 goals. Saint Joseph's scored three more goals over the quarter to make the score 18-3 heading into the fourth quarter.   
 
The Mount scored three goals coming from Connor McMahon, Kadin Kightlinger, and Krieger to cut the deficit to 12 goals again, but the Hawks scored a late goal to reach the final score of 19-6.  
 
Connor Beals went 12-out-of-25 (48%) from the X today.
 
The Mountaineer's next game is against the Sacred Heart Pioneers on March 26th at noon in Fairfield, Connecticut.
