Mount Men’s Lacrosse Falls 21-4 to #3 Georgetown

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 1, 2022)- The Mountaineers fall to #3 Georgetown on Tuesday afternoon 21-4 after the Hoyas hold the Mount to one goal in the first half. Five players tallied points for the Mount, with Jared McMahon extending his goal streak to 11 games after scoring in the third quarter. Georgetown outshot the Mountaineers 51-28.
 
TJ Haley and Dylan Watson had five total points, with Watson having four goals and one assist, while Haley had four assists and one goal for the Hoyas.
 
The Mount made 10 saves over three different goalies, with Gunnar Luckoski making a team-high six saves. Georgetown made seven saves across three goalies, with Owen McElroy and Michael Scharfenberger making three saves each.
 
The Hoyas got on the scoresheet first after both teams traded possessions to start the game off. Georgetown made it 2-0 a minute later. The Hoyas scored on their next four possessions to jump out to a 6-0 lead with 5:27 remaining in the quarter. Georgetown got their seventh of the quarter on a man-advantage goal with 1:49 left. The Hoyas scored two late goals to have a 9-0 lead at the end of the quarter.
 
Georgetown scored two goals 27 seconds apart to take an 11-0 lead early in the second quarter. The teams traded shots until the Hoyas scored with 6:14 left in the quarter, which kicked off a 3-0 run. Georgetown scored on their next two possessions to take a 14 goal lead. Kyle DeCrispino got the Mount on the board after Brendan Lantieri found DeCrispino on a nice pass to give DeCrispino his sixth goal of the year.
 
The Hoyas continued where they left off in the third quarter scoring two more goals to increase the lead to 15, but the Mountaineers got one back on J.McMahon's tenth goal of the year. Georgetown closed out the third with two more goals to make it 18-2.   
 
The Hoyas scored just a minute into the fourth to increase their lead to 17. Both teams traded possessions for about minutes until Casey Domanski scored his third goal with 5:10 left. Georgetown responded with a goal on their next possession to reach 20 goals. The Mount scored their fourth goal on Jack Bauer's first goal for the program. The Hoyas scored their final goal less than a minute later to reach the final score of 21-4.  
 
Connor Beals went 7-out-of-14 (50%), Ethan Holobinko went 3-out-of-10 (30%), and Cooper Leonard went 1-out-of-3 (33%) from the X today.
 
The Mountaineer's next game is against the VMI Keydets at Waldron Family Stadium on Friday, March 4th at 3:00 p.m.
