EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 23, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse gives up a 5-0 run in the fourth quarter and cannot complete the comeback as the Mountaineers fall 13-11.
Erin Anderson led the way for the Mount with four goals, and four different players tallied three points for the Mount. Navy won 22 draw controls, while the Mountaineers won six. Navy had nine free position shots compared to the Mount's two.
Reagan Roelofs and Leelee Denton tallied five points for Navy, with Kasey Dietzel added three points and 10 draw controls.
Madison Bradley made five saves for the Mountaineers, while Jo Torres made three saves for the Midshipmen.

Jordan Groover found
Alayna Pagnotta in the middle, then Pagnotta turned and fired a shot past the goalie to go up 1-0. Navy responded on their next possession to tie the game at one. Both teams held each other scoreless for nine minutes until
Zoe Hurlburt broke the drought and gave the Mount a 2-1 lead. Navy's Isabelle Thornburg tied the game at two with 38 seconds left.
Denton scored her first goal in the first 30 seconds of the second quarter to give Navy their first lead of the game at 3-2. Navy took a 4-2 lead with 10:10 left in the quarter on Denton's second goal. Anderson scored her first goal of the game after Groover passed her the ball in stride, and Anderson put it past the goalie to cut the lead to one. Groover scored her only goal after she got around her defender and bounced the ball past the goalkeeper to tie the score at four going into halftime.
The Mountaineers retook the lead at 5-4 when Hurlburt scored the Mount's only free position goal with 13:10 left in the third. The Midshipmen scored two goals within two minutes to retake the lead at 6-5. Denton scored her third goal on a man advantage to take a two-goal lead with 4:10 left. The Mount scored two goals with under a minute left to tie the game at seven, with both goals being assisted by
Lindsey Tolliver.
Anderson got her third goal to give the Mount an 8-7 lead two minutes into the fourth quarter. The Midshipmen tied the game 31 seconds later on a free position shot to start their 5-0 run. Six seconds later, Navy took the lead after Roelofs won the draw control and found Charlotte Ryan wide open, and she beat Bradley one-on-one to make it 9-8. The Midshipmen's next three goals came off free position shots to extend their lead to 12-8 with 11:18 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Mountaineers cut the deficit to 12-10 after Hurlburt and Tolliver about a minute apart. Navy's Charlotte Ryan got her third goal of the game to give the Midshipmen a three-goal lead. Anderson scored her fourth goal, a season-high, to reach the final score of 13-11.
