Mount Women’s Lacrosse Falls 10-9 to La Salle in Triple Overtime

EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 19, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's women's falls to La Salle 10-9 in triple overtime. Dani Donoghue with four goals, Lindsey Tolliver had two assists, and five different Mountaineers tallied points. The Mount outshot the Explorers 28-25, including 3-1 in overtime.

Emily Johnston and Maddie Henderson had a hat trick to lead the charge for La Salle, with Lola Quigley adding a goal and an assist.

Madison Bradley made nine saves for the Mountaineers, while Kelli McGroarty made ten saves for the Explorers.

La Salle scored the game's first goal off a free position shot by Henderson within the first two minutes. Zoe Hurlburt got the Mount on the board with 10:47 remaining in the first quarter to tie the game at one. The Explorers scored two goals about a minute and a half to take a 3-1 lead, but the Mount responded with two goals of their own. The first came from Jordan Groover, and the second came from Molly Molchanoff, her first collegiate goal, to tie the game at three.

Donoghue gave the Mount their first lead of the game off a free position shot to make it 4-3. La Salle ended their 14:26 scoring drought to tie the game at four. Beanie Colson scored to make it 5-4 in favor of the Mountaineers after a nice pass from Tolliver. The Explorers tied the game at five with seven seconds left in the second quarter on a free position by Johnston.

The third quarter got off to a fast start with Henderson's third goal of the game to give La Salle the lead back. Donoghue scored her second of the game on the man advantage to tie the game at six with 11:56 remaining in the third quarter. La Salle retook the lead after Kiki Venza scored her only goal to give the Explorers a goal advantage.

Donoghue scored her third goal of the game on a free position to tie the game up 25 seconds in the fourth quarter. Erin Anderson scored just over a minute later to give the Mountaineers an 8-7 lead. Thirty-eight seconds later, the Explorers tied the game at eight. La Salle recaptured the lead with 9:32 remaining on Quigley's goal. Donoghue scored her fourth goal with 5:22 left to tie the game at nine. The Mount controlled the last couple of minutes with Alayna Pagnotta hitting the post but could not find the back of the net as they headed to overtime.

In the overtime periods, the Mount had three chances to score but were denied by McGroarty, while La Salle did not register a shot until the third overtime when Johnston scored her third goal to give the Explorers the 10-9 victory.
