EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 1, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's men's soccer travels to the Hudson River Valley to conclude the 2022 regular season, facing with the Marist Red Foxes.

In terms of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament, the Mount must win this game, hope for a multi-team tie among the final contenders with 13 points and have the tiebreaker scenarios fall in their favor.

ABOUT THE MOUNT

Aside from making the final push for a chance at the postseason, a victory gives the Mountaineers their first season at .500 or better since 2011. That team went 8-7-2 with a 5-4-1 mark in the Northeast Conference. This is the sixth opportunity to return to this position as the program went on hiatus from 2013-17.

The team stands on 22 goals scored for the year, averaging 1.38 per game. Jesus Salazar and Ruben Kiers look to claim the individual scoring title for the team, as each tallied four goals so far. Beyond that, scoring has been diversified with 11 players finding the back of the net.

Ethan Russell has been the Mount's goalkeeper all year long, so he too will seek an individual .500 record should he get the start in the finale. Four saves in the final game will land him the program's top Division I single season record for saves at 87.

ABOUT MARIST

Earning nine points – one behind the Mount – Marist will be playing for pride Wednesday as the season winds down. They are also bringing a four-match unbeaten streak into the game with a victory and three ties.

Three members of the Red Foxes bring four scores from the season onto the pitch – Jared Juleau, Jacob Schulman, and Henrique Cruz. Juleau adds five assists to lead the program in points with 13. Samuel Ilin has 44 saves and a 1.19 goals-against average across 16 starts.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Being members of the Northeast Conference together back in the 1990s, Mount St. Mary's and Marist have eight previous meeting. The Mount has the upper hand, taking seven of eight contests.
