EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 13, 2021) – An intrastate rival contest awaits Mount St. Mary's Tuesday evening as they travel to UMBC.
MOUNT UPDATE
Alek Wroblewski scored his first goal of the season, and Jesus Salazar took the team's lead in points thanks to an assist during Friday's game with Bucknell. A late goal by the Bison secured the win for the visitors.
Wroblewski fired three shots, two of which were on goal, to surge ahead in the shot lead with six. As a team, the Mount has fired 33 shots, 45 percent of which threatened the net.
Early returns in the Northeast Conference (NEC) indicate a tight race. Victory in Tuesday's game would put the Mount back towards the top of the standings. Long Island stands at 2-2-1, Fairleigh Dickinson at 2-3 and reigning champ St. Francis Brooklyn 1-2-1.
ABOUT UMBC
The Retrievers stand 2-2-1 on the young season. After two straight wins over La Salle and Iona, UMBC fell to Long Island 3-1 last Saturday.
With 11 goals on the season, UMBC stands 21st in the nation for total goals and 33rd in scoring offense. Ryan Becher is the primary scorer with five goals and 11 points this year. However the Retrievers have conceded more than they have scored, giving up 12 goals.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Mount St. Mary's is looking for their 11th victory against the Retrievers and their first since October 1997. UMBC leads the series 24-10-2. This is the first meeting since September 12th, a 1-0 defeat for the Mountaineers.
