EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 10, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's men's soccer was unable to break its losing streak on home turf Friday, conceding a goal inside of 10 minutes remaining to drop a 2-1 decision to Bucknell.
Alek Wroblewski scored his first goal of the season, equalizing the match in the 29th minute with a strike from the left side of the box.
Jesus Salazar chipped in the assist to take the overall point lead for the Mount with three for the year.
The Bison (1-3) eclipsed the Mount (1-3) in shots 13-7 and drew eight corners, as opposed to one for the home side.
Bucknell got on the board first in the 25th minute, as Jordan Miller took charge of a ball sent in by Gabe Dahlin. Needing to fend off defenders, he managed to hold firm to open the scoring.
The match was level heading into the second half. Three opportunities for the Mount were either blocked or sailed high, while corners for Bucknell produced no advantages. After Mount keeper
Adam Siviter denied a chance for the Bison to go up with 10 minutes left, the visitors regrouped for a second try. When it seemed as if that chance got denied as well, Siviter lost his grip, allowing Miller to strike and score his second goal of the game.
The rest of the contest passed without another shot fired.
Mount St. Mary's travels to UMBC next Tuesday (Sept. 14).
