EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 7, 2021) – Behind another stellar outing from junior
Jordan Geber, the Mount St. Mary's baseball team split a Friday twin billing with the Long Island Sharks. Geber went the distance in the opener, recording his first career complete game shutout.
The split moves the Mount's record to 9-24 (5-15 NEC) this season.
The Archbishop Spalding alumnus now leads the Mountaineers with a 4.05 ERA while picking up his second consecutive victory. He also is tops in strikeouts, retiring 63 batters over 53 1/3 innings.
Spearheaded by his efforts, the Mount's pitching staff has recorded 22 out of 23 shutout innings, extending back to a game with Wagner on April 25
th. Reliever
Ryan Ament added 4 2/3 innings of scoreless ball in the second game.
On offense,
Thomas Bramley,
AJ Holcomb and
Ryan Fisher added multi-hit efforts across the doubleheader.

Geber set the tempo from the first pitch, no-hitting the Sharks for the first four innings. He would scatter four hits and two free passes for the entire contest, while sending nine LIU hitters back to the dugout with strikeouts.
The Mount offense also struggled for six frames until Bramley drove in Fisher for the game's only run.

Another pitchers' duel awaited the teams in the nightcap. This time the Mountaineers were on the wrong end of the shutout as the Sharks limited the visitors to six hits.
Long Island scored all their runs in the third inning, with Andy Camilo's two-run single doing the most damage.
Mount St. Mary's returns to Emmitsburg next weekend for the final home series of the season. The Mount takes on Central Connecticut from May 13
th-15
th.
