Mount St. Mary’s Suffers Second Straight Sweep

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 3, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's baseball was unable to maintain an early lead, eventually falling to Central Connecticut 5-3. The defeat marks a second consecutive sweep for the Mountaineers and seven in a row.

AJ Holcomb and CJ Kozorosky registered multi-hit games for the Mount, collecting two hits each. All three runs came in the second inning, with Kozorosky driving in a run and Myles Nicholson adding a pair of RBI's.

Eight pitchers performed on the mound with sic recording scoreless outings. Ryan Ament, Dennis Snyder, and Patrick Burke delivered a scoreless inning. For the second straight game the Mount tallied 10 strikeouts.

The Blue Devils got four of their nine hits at the lineup, with Dan Covino and Jay Devito secured two hits each with Covino scoring twice.

Kozorosky nullified a brief 1-0 CCSU lead with an infield single to score Thomas Savastio. Nicholson's double one batter later scored Kozorosky and Efrain Correa, Jr. for a 3-1 lead.

Devito's double in the third brought the Blue Devils within a run, and he tied the contest by scoring on a failed pickoff attempt. CCSU sealed the sweep in the sixth with a single and a sacrifice fly.

With a record of 5-17 (1-8 NEC), the Mount will try again to regroup at home, challenging Sacred Heart April 9th-11th.
