EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 29, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's fired 12 shots at Bryant's net during Monday's home finale, but none made it to the back of the net. The Mountaineers withstood 11 Bryant shots as well and the contest ended in a 0-0 draw.
It is the second scoreless tie since the program was revitalized in 2018. The first was against Fairleigh Dickinson on September 28, 2018.
The Mount moves to 1-4-2 on the season, while Bryant moves to 1-2-2.
Starting out sluggish on offense, neither side got a shot off for the first 10 minutes. The Mount's first shot came in the 15
th minute off the foot of
Kyle Davis, who pushed it high. Each team had one major chance, with the
Mount's coming off the foot of
Alek Wrobleski, but denied by a diving save from the Bulldogs' Jack Bacon. Bryant, thanks to a penalty awarded in the final minute, had a tremendous opportunity to go ahead. Mount keeper
Adam Siviter turned that aside.
Mount St. Mary's took the momentum from the save into the second half, out shooting the Bulldogs 7-2. Davis and Wrobleski had chances again, but both were off target.
Heading into overtime, two more attempts by the Mount failed to score. Davis cleared a shot through the defense, but Bacon saved the shot. One minute later, a header from
Gavin Watt missed wide with the front post open in front of him.
The match remained chippy throughout, with the referee administering eight yellow cards – four for each team.
Mount St. Mary's hits the road for their final two contests, traveling to Long Island next Monday (Apr. 5).
