EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 28, 2021) – After securing their first win last week, the Mount St. Mary's men's soccer program looks to build a win streak as they conclude the 2021 home schedule against Bryant.
MOUNT UPDATE
The Mount's first win came last Monday, a 3-2 triumph over the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
Kyle Davis scored twice for the Mountaineers, including the overtime winner on a penalty. For his efforts, the sophomore earned Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors.
With four points in the standings and only two spots up for grabs in the NEC Championship Game, Mount St. Mary's needs more victories to remain in contention. One win separates them from the second place position but five teams are in the way. While not in complete control of their destiny, the three teams nearest to them – Bryant, LIU and Fairleigh Dickinson – are left on the Mount's schedule.
ABOUT BRYANT
Bryant is closest to the Mount in the standings, equaling them with four points. The Bulldogs boast a win over Sacred Heart and a tie with LIU. In their most recent contest, they fell to NEC leader St. Francis Brooklyn 1-0.
Junior Ben Williams is responsible for three of the Bulldogs' five goals, and sophomore Matt Supczak has tallied three assists.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Mount St. Mary's holds the upper hand in the series with a record of 4-1-1 all-time. However, Bryant has turned the tide in the past two meetings, forcing a 1-1 tie in 2018 and a 2-0 win last season.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
With home games finished, the Mount travels to LIU (Apr. 5) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Apr. 12) to conclude the season.
