EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 24, 2021) – The first of four home games for the Mount St. Mary's men's soccer team takes place Thursday, when they host the La Salle Explorers.

MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers were dealt a tough defeat in their season opener. After a strong back line fended off 14 shots, the George Washington Colonials made the 15^th one count – a double overtime golden goal.

This will be the third home opener since the team's return to Division I in 2018. They dropped their first-ever game back to Bucknell, but defeated Winthrop in the 2019 opener.

ABOUT LA SALLE
La Salle comes into Emmitsburg at 1-1 on the season, with a 2-1 victory in their opener over Villanova. Omari Cotterell and Sam Decencio scored for the Explorers in that win.

Under the direction of Rob Irvine, now in his fifth season, La Salle is coming off an 8-9-1 season where they went 4-4 in the Atlantic 10 conference.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Mount St. Mary's and La Salle are meeting for the third time. The Mount won the inaugural match 5-0 in 2011 before La Salle retorted with a 2-0 win the following year.

Conference play begins on Monday, March 1^st when the Mount travels to Central Connecticut.
