Mount Joy, Pa. (February 20, 2021) – After a 0-2 slow start to Saturday, they Mountaineers salvaged a best-of-seven victory against the Saint Francis Red Flash to bring their record to 6-3 in NEC conference play.

The Red Flash gave Mount plenty of opportunities to seize the match, but those opportunities were ultimately left unfulfilled and resulted in a stinging seven pin loss to begin Saturday.

Needing a rebound victory, the Mount picked the wrong time to toss their lowest set of the year, as the 817 was nowhere near enough to match the 943 from SFU.

Almost like a magic light switch, the Mount suddenly regained their good vibes from yesterday, eclipsing the 200 mark four straight times to sweep SFU 4-0 and salvage a win on the day.
 
"After our dismal start, it was important to end the way we did entering a much anticipated matchup with Sacred Heart tomorrow," said head coach Kenneth DeGraaf. "Today we played on the opposite side of the house and the lines that worked Friday simply were not available this time around. We failed to grind out spares when figuring out the lanes, which ultimately costs us match one."
 
"Match two I felt we let drag on our disappointment from match one, which cannot happen. At the time we made some pretty radical lineup changes both in personnel, order, and ball choice and that is when our team clicked at the end. Hopefully, we can use that positive energy tomorrow to finish the first full weekend of NEC play strong."
 
The Mountaineers were led by Sophomore Amanda Yeung off the bench with a 22.80 baker frame average. Competition will resume tomorrow at 8:30 AM vs. Sacred Heart.
