Staten Island, N.Y. (February 12, 2021) – Rebounding from a loss in the opening match of the day, the No. 7 Mount St. Mary's bowling team won the final four face offs, winning the inaugural Seahawk Invite at Rab's Country Lanes.
The first place finish came with a total pin-fall of 4,682, good for an average of 187.28 on the day. The victory also came on a narrow margin, defeating Long Island by 10 pins.
Three bowlers –
Tamera Stanton,
Amanda Yeung and
Rebecca Dodson – earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Stanton was tops for the Mount with a 606 total, second-highest for the invite.
A 13-pin tournament lead after four games was almost exposed in the last match. Although the Mount put up a decisive triumph against St. Thomas Aquinas, LIU could have won if they stayed on average. However, the Sharks dropped their final match 995-917, leaving enough room for the Mount to claim the title.
With the 4-1 record, Mount St. Mary's improved to 23-5 on the season.
Full conference weekends await the Mount the rest of the month. The first weekend takes place in Mount Joy, Pa. from February 19
