EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 7, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball got handed a knockout blow and was unable to recover, falling to Big Ten foe Ohio State by a 94-50 final.
Upperclassmen
Aryna Taylor and
Michaela Harrison tied for a game-high eight points, with Taylor adding a season-high four assists. The remaining starters also made solid contributions.
Kayla Agentowicz and
Isabella Hunt delivered seven points each, with
Kendall Bresee posting nine rebounds to go along with four points and four assists.
Every player who entered the contest scored. The bench tallied 16 points, led by 10 points split evenly between
Jada Lee and
Jessica Tomasetti.
Ohio State distributed the knockout blow after the opening tip, leading 7-0 before the Mount could score. The lead grew each quarter until the 7:45 mark in the fourth period, when the Buckeyes went up by 48 points.
After being held to seven points in the opening quarter, the Mount stayed consistent throughout the rest of the game, averaging about 14 per frame. Hunt tallied four points in the second, while Bresee and Harrison totaled their entire total in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.
Tuesday's game marked the final contest against a Power 5 contest. Mount St. Mary's hosts two final non-conference tune ups, welcoming Maryland Eastern Shore (Dec. 18) and UMBC (Dec. 21).
