Emmitsburg, Md. | Mount Tennis Courts
Saturday, February 22nd | 1:00 PM

MOUNT UPDATE
The Mount women's tennis team dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the Northeast Conference after losing two tough matches against Navy and St. Francis Brooklyn last weekend. The Terriers squeaked by the Mountaineers, winning the overall match 4-3. Alexa Quintanilla and Megan Smith each won their respective singles matches while the Mount swept the doubles matches to take that point. Quintanilla and Taylor Cook won their match 6-2 and Hannah Davis and Mia Pittman dominated their opponent 6-1. The Mountaineers will look to bounce back this weekend when hosting the Warriors.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
The newly added conference foe, Merrimack, comes into this weekend's matchup at 5-0 in dual matches (all occurring during the fall season). The Warriors have yet to open up their spring season and have failed to play a Division I opponent yet as well. Kristina Calistro leads the Warriors at number one singles and number one doubles with a 9-2 dual/tour record this year. Senior Mia Briggs currently sits at 9-0 overall in her matches during the 2019-2020 campaign.

INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools as Merrimack moved up from Division II to Division I this past year.

PRESEASON POLLS
On February 6th, the Northeast Conference announced the annual Preseason Coaches' Poll for women's tennis in which the Mountaineers were tabbed to finish 7th in a tie with St. Francis Brooklyn. Fairleigh Dickinson was picked to dethrone three-time defending champion Long Island, receiving the most first-place votes with four. For more information on this year's preseason polls, click here.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team will hit the road again next Saturday, February 29th to take on Liberty at 4:00 p.m.
